Meet Dr. Navraj Sandhu, a double board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Dr. Sandhu completed his Bachelor of Science degree with distinction, followed by his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Sandhu pursued advanced surgical training with a one-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship at Lincoln Medical Center in New York City, where he gained extensive experience in trauma and dentoalveolar surgery in a high-acuity setting. He then completed a four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Rochester. His training encompassed the full scope of the specialty, including orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, reconstructive surgery, head and neck pathology, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, and anesthesia.
Throughout residency, Dr. Sandhu consistently performed at the highest academic level, scoring above the 90th percentile on the national Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery In-Training Examination (OMSITE) each year. He later achieved the highest distinction in board certification by scoring in the 99th percentile on the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Oral Examination.
Dr. Sandhu is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, reflecting board certification in both Canada and the United States.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sandhu serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia, where he is actively involved in teaching and mentoring dental students. He is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care and values building strong relationships with both patients and referring providers.
Dr. Sandhu is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi, allowing him to connect with and care for a diverse patient population. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys staying active, traveling, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
